Who Ate All The Pies – Best Pies I’ve Eaten in the National League

The recent sad passing of Brian Murdoch who was 81 years old has encouraged me to write this blog. Brian and his family had a huge impact a local community and many people across the country who have used their services over the last 60 years and have always come away very satisfied. (no, not those types of services!!). Y ou may very well ask, who was Brian Murdoch? It’s not an outlandish question as he is hardly a household name unless you happen to reside is a certain part of Worcester and follow a certain football team.   As a person Brian was well known for his "incomparable character and warmth" according to his obituary. More importantly, f or six decades. Brian and his family have provided food and catering facilities for supporters at The Aggborough Stadium, home of current National League North side Kidderminster Harriers. You may say, “big deal”. He provided food for supporters at football for years and lived till a ripe old age. This is true but where Brian’s food ...

"He used to hate us and now he saves us"

It is fair to say that following Boreham Wood’s dull 0-0 draw against Ebbsfleet United on 17 th  November 2018, the Ebbsfleet goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore wasn’t a favourite among the Boreham Wood supporters. However, two years on, the “Wood Army” feel very different about him. This blog will explain why someone who was so unpopular can suddenly be a firm fans favourite among us fickle supporters and become the best player to ever put a Number One shirt on for Boreham Wood Football Club.  The events of that day have been well documented. Following the match, Nathan Ashmore jumped into the Boreham Wood home end to berate a Boreham Wood supporter who had been calling him names. This led to a bit of a free for all. There was a bit of pushing and shoving but a couple of Boreham Wood supporters managed to calm Ashmore. Also, half a dozen or so players from both teams also jumped in the stand too and were bickering among themselves. The fracas was over within minutes and Nathan Ashmore...

It’s time for three up three down between League Two and the National League

Why is it three teams get relegated from the Premier League, and promoted from the Championship, three teams get relegated from the Championship and promoted from League One, four teams get relegated from League One and promoted from League Two but only two get relegated from League Two and promoted from the National League? I know the EFL and the National League are different bodies and have different guidelines but so are the Premier League and EFL and they still have the same promotion and relegation process. Surely this is a case of the EFL looking after their interests rather than what’s good for the game in general. Why should the National League (essential League Three) be discriminated against in this way? To understand both sides of the argument, we should look back at a time that the fifth tier of English Football was even more discriminated against then it is at the moment. Let me explain… In 1986 the winners of the Alliance Premier League (now The National League) were ...
